I think the irresistable urge to see and taste the insides of Stretch Armstrong was an early one for me.
I also had to choke down boiled shrimp at first because they seemed like human fingers, especially when dipped in coctail sauce - but I started to like it real soon.

Re: Your formative moments?
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 11:16 AMSitting in kindergarten comparing 5 days to 5 years (my age at the time). For a brief moment I got confused and thought everything that had happened to me in life had happened over the course of 5 days. I was astounded. But then recovered, upon realizing the difference.
My first kiss in first grade. It was kind of a tag team kind of a thing and we were all separated for the rest of the year after that. Very innocent and yet... -

Re: Your formative moments?
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 1:04 PMwhen i was five, i couldn't figure out how the LA Times knew to print the pictures of Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, etc., after the Manson Family murdered them. i thought the paper had taken their pictures in advance because they knew they were going to get murdered, which is why the pictures were so immediately available. my mother tried to explain to me that newspapers have pictures on file, but i wouldn't believe it. -

Tue, March 22, 2005 - 1:07 PMI had to get reassurance that "guerillas" in (wherever at the time) were not "gorillas" taking over the world a la Planet of the Apes. :) -

Re: Your formative moments?
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 1:19 PMyeah I was pretty fascinated by that whole thing... (guerrillas and all)
"brainwashing" oh yeah... (*rinse out your brains!*)
and around that same time (just enough later that I could read better) I think I read a reader's digest article about a young woman who had been kidnapped for ransom and held in a coffin in the ground with some air supply and food where if they paid off they could still find her but if not she would die!!!
that was such an exciting read for a young lass... -

Tue, March 22, 2005 - 4:12 PMGetting back to thread, maybe all of that enforced eating of Jesus' body in my early church-going years had something to do with it. He tasted like crackers, unfortunately. -

Re: Your formative moments?
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 7:48 PMThank Christ I was raised by Heathens who believe religion is a crutch for the weak. As a result, those times I impersonated a Catholic and partook of the Blessed Sacrament, say, when I was sleeping over at a friend's house and we had to go to church, my feelings about Christ's body were strictly snack oriented. -

Re: Your formative moments?
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 8:43 PMI once read about Medieval mystics - both nuns and lay women - who had ecstatic visions of doing kinky stuff with the Christ. One of them 'dreamt' that he climbed down from the cross and handed her a heaping plate of his son-of-man flesh (mm-mmm).
I love that it was on a plate. -

Re: Your formative moments?
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 9:03 PMInteresting. In my Ecstatic Vision, The Crown of Thorns is tightened to create a circular saw, so The Christ's head opens like a lid and I feast on his quivering brains with a Sacred Fork. -
